Registration and Authorization
Registration on MasterMates is done exclusively through Steam. This ensures security and automatic game data linking.
How Steam OpenID Authorization Works
Steam OpenID is an official authorization protocol from Valve. When logging in, you are redirected to the official Steam website where you confirm the login. MasterMates never receives your password — only public profile information.
Registration Process
- Click the "Sign in via Steam" button on the homepage
- You will be redirected to the official Steam Community website
- Log in to your Steam account (if not already logged in)
- Confirm login to MasterMates
- After confirmation, you will automatically return to the site
What Happens on First Login
- Your MasterMates profile is created
- Information from Steam is loaded: nickname, avatar, account creation date
- Your Steam game library is synced
- If you have Dota 2 — match statistics are loaded
Steam Account Requirements
Your Steam profile can be private — authorization will still work. However, to load game statistics and Dota 2 matches you need to:
- Make Steam profile public (at least temporarily)
- Enable "Public Match Data" in Dota 2 settings
If your profile is private, statistics will be empty, but your MasterMates profile will be created.
User Profile
After registration, you get a personal profile that other users can view.
